What's a 401(k) default deferral rate?

A default deferral rate is the portion of your wages automatically deducted from your paycheck after your automatic enrollment date which is stated in your Guideline enrollment invitation

This rate is determined by your employer and is applied to all participants who are automatically enrolled in the plan and who haven’t completed enrollment, selected their own contribution rate or opted out by this date.
