Why is there a distribution fee?

We understand that no one likes to pay fees. That is why, unlike many other providers, we charge no asset under management fees, offer only low expense ratio funds with a blended average of .06% and your monthly maintenance fee is covered entirely by your employer while you are employed by the company. This allows active participants to have more of their retirement savings actively working towards their goals while invested in their Guideline 401(k).

However, Guideline charges a $50 distribution fee as part of an agreement with our custodian to utilize their check cutting services and cover processing fees. This fee is included in your participant dashboard Notices and Disclosures folder Annual Disclosure document.

We would always recommend reviewing other retirement plan provider's annual fee disclosures to compare asset under management fees charged along with individual fund expense ratios for reference as well.
