How long does a plan audit take?

A plan audit could take between 6 weeks and 6 months, depending on the complexity of the plan, and contingent on timely production of complete and accurate plan records. Due to the difficulty of estimating the time required to complete your audit, we recommend engaging an auditor as early as possible, and preferably by February if your plan year ends December 31st.

This will enable Guideline to prepare your audit package and facilitate completion of the audit in advance of the Form 5500 deadline

The last day for you to engage an auditor to enable Guideline to timely file your Form 5500 with the auditor’s report is July 1, if you choose to file an extension.
